Chances are you have contributed to a charity somewhere along the way, whether you purchased a box of Thin Mints from the local girl scout troop, you dropped a dollar in the red bucket during the holidays, or you invested $20 in frozen pizzas.
And although I like participating in many different charities, one that is at the top of my list is the Briggs & Al’s Run & Walk. What makes this charity event just a little different is the opportunity to interact with the very people we are trying to help.
On the morning of the race, with a great deal of determination, I squeeze my way up to the start line. Not because I am in a hurry to start, or eager to end my walk. I am simply drawn to the group of children and young adults who stand on the podium at the start line. This group represents the more than 350,000 patients that Children’s Hospital services every year. And every pledge that I collect, for every step I take, adds to the more than $14 million raised since 1978.

See you at the start line.
