Mower Mouth Facebook Contest Makes Social Media Noise at Shorty Awards

Usually we like to save our bragging for talking about our engines and outdoor power equipment. But this week, we’re so excited, we just can’t help but boast about something else.

Lawn Mower Contest Voting for Briggs and Stratton Mower Mouth

On Monday night in New York, our Briggs & Stratton Mower Mouth contest won a really cool and important social media award. We won a Shorty Industry Award for Best Facebook Contest, sharing the honor with ESPN SportsCenter and beating out a third finalist, ABC Family, in the category.

The Mower Mouth facebook contest invited Briggs fans to submit videos of themselves doing lawn mower impersonations. In response to their boisterous videos, a few deserving winners were awarded a Craftsman quiet lawn mower powered by a Briggs Quiet Power Technology engine.

The Shorty Award really belongs to all the creative entrants who escalated our idea for lawn mower impersonations to the next level with amazing videos that showcased their sense of humor, musical skills and Briggs & Stratton spirit. The Shorty Industry Awards honor the talented agencies, brands, and industry leaders behind the best social media channels, campaigns, websites, games and applications. This year, Shorty Industry Awards doubled in size with entrants from around the world.

We’re not only excited about the creativity of our team being showcased and recognized, but we’re excited because it also recognizes how we’re interacting with you – Briggs & Stratton fans and future fans – in new and engaging ways.

Based on the success of our Mower Mouth Facebook contest, not just the award, but the engagement as well, it’s clear to us that social media will continue to be an important part of how we communicate to and with you and we’re very excited about that.
